Joshua Tree Elopement

I have been to Joshua Tree a few times and I have tried to photograph couples out there and the timing never worked out but HERE WE ARE AND I AM FREAKING OUT STILL.

Not only was I able to photograph this styled elopement, BUT I was able to stretch how I shoot, use lighting, and guide my couples. Aren’t they the most beautiful?

Joshua tree travel

Joshua Tree National Park is located 45-60 minutes away from Palm Springs, California (depending on how fast you drive haha). During this trip, we stayed in Palm Springs in the cutest hotel, with an adults-only pool. Our hotel, V by Sonder, was exactly what we needed for our 5-night stay. We were a 5-minute drive away from downtown, a 5-minute walk away from Koffee, where we worked a lot, and we were, of course, surrounded by the desert mountains and palm trees!

Joshua Tree National Park is such a unique location for any photoshoot, elopement, or wedding. There are giant rocks to climb around and incredible Joshua Trees at the North Entrance of the park. The southern entrance is truly all desert while you drive through. We went during our honeymoon and entered through the south entrance. We stopped at the visitor center and got some stickers and a map. We drove through 50% of the park seeing no Joshua trees but we saw some killer views, lots of open desert with layers and layers of mountains and hills. We started getting some higher elevations and found a large patch of Jumping Cactuses. They are incredible to look at and offer such crazy colors! We drove through some hills and started seeing Joshua Trees and then the large round rock piles. It was insane and went on forever! There are tons of camping spots and tons of little roads to drive and explore around to more trails and campsites. We camped in Joshua Tree as well in July 2022 and stayed in Jumbo Rocks Campground. So fun and accessible with lots of places to climb and hike around! I love Joshua Tree but this isn’t what this post is necessarily about so let’s get back to photos.
