U T A H
If there is one thing that people usually find out about me right away is that I worry. I need a plan and I need to know what is happening all the time. The Lord has been working on me through that b u t when the opportunity arose that I could go to Utah with some friends and my boyfriend, 3 days, 2 nights, sleeping in a van and exploring National Parks, I didn’t hesitate on it. I don’t agree to things like this. I haven’t actually hardcore camped in the woods for multiple nights even though I have worked at a camp for 2 summers and have grown up going to camps.
Nonetheless, the trip was absolutely incredible. Got all the car-sickness, ate all of the cheddar bunnies and meat and cheese sandwiches, and took so many photos! As a quick general timeline for our trip, we left Albuquerque in the middle of the day on a Monday then got to Cortez, Colorado at around 5-6 in the evening. We parked at the Walmart parking lot there and slept in the van (DID NOT get enough sleep because of the cold, being woken up by someone eating food [it’s okay, it was hilarious], and loud sketchy music from a car next to us). We got up early in the morning and drove to Moab, Utah. We went to Arches National Park and hiked to Delicate Arch, we ate lunch, then drove to where we would be staying that night to figure it out, then went to Canyonlands for sunset. We then drove into Moab for dinner at a Denny’s that took WAY too long then headed to where we would park for the night (we actually got sleep cause it was warm and we wore more layers). We then made our way back to Canyonlands for a possible sunrise hike but it was too foggy so we drove back through Moab to A Hole in the Rock, roadside attraction. Then we headed back to New Mexico. We stopped at Four Corners to see what all the hype was about, but it was all hype. Nothing super exciting to be completely honest. Throw in some random gas stations and food places and that was what our trip was.
It’s super necessary to go out and experience more of the world and I am so stoked to have been able to have spent my time with such genuine people.
Thankful for friends, Jess, Jacob, Lester and Brennan, for including me on their spontaneous adventure!
